Project goals.

JTA Connection has been developing their own MES-solution called Nexus. Due to rapid development loop the system is very rich on features and allows a vast amount of customization to meet the needs of customers with various production setups.

The project goal was to research the usability of the system to guarantee an intuitive user experience in challenging environments and complex setups.

Solution.

Forge analyzed the user interface and user experience by leveraging both deep domain knowledge on MES systems and expertise on user experience, usability and accessibility. To ensure the analysis covers also end user point of view Forge conducted two site visits to gather the insights of different user groups and stakeholders.

Forge provided JTA Connection with a usability report and a list of suggested measures and a light-weight insight of system’s future vision.

Results.

The measures to tackle obesrvations that the usability research brought up have already been started. JTA Connection has a loop of continuous improvement of Nexus and the report forms a strong backbone for usability improvement backlog.

The project was executed both on time and on budget. We are very happy with the results – Forge’s insights and expertise confirms that we are on right track with our product and we collected lots of valuable usability observations for future development.
